Review on Victron Energy Phoenix 500VA 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter for 120V AC Power by Robert Tyus

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works but no bluetooth and a bit too expensive for what it is

Yes the device does what it's supposed to do - take 12V DC and convert it to 120V AC. However, this is just a 400W pure sine wave inverter for $160. For the same price, you can buy a 1000W inverter from other sources. I chose the Victron device for the bluetooth control (which requires an extra charge to get the bluetooth dongle). I don't think it was worth the money as Bluetooth controls are sorely lacking for this device. It tells you the input voltage of the battery but not the power drawn. It has "Load %" for output, but it literally only has two labels - 0% and 200% - nothing in between. Thus, it is impossible to say with what load a person is actually working. It doesn't even report its internal temperature. I think it's better to buy another inverter - you get more inverters for your money, and the (lack of) Bluetooth control on this unit doesn't justify the higher price.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
