Review on πŸ“ Enhance Raspberry Pi Zero with MakerSpot Micro USB OTG Hub for 4 Port High Speed Sync and Extension - Perfect for Android Tablets and Raspbian Jessie Linux! by Dave Seawell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Deducting 2 stars for poor performance and solid USB OTG connector

I gave it a '15. May 2018" seen with 1 star. I have no doubt about the grievances contained therein; There have been many complaints about the quality of products from Hong Kong or other places in China through Hong Kong. Poor documentation and missing current and voltage information. For example, I cannot charge my Samsung Galaxy S8 phone on this hub. Their website (makerpot dot com) is of little help. My device arrived in good condition (no loose contacts or other defects). Was it just luck? However, the host-side connector (USB On-The-Go) doesn't connect as well as the Pi's power connector (another vendor). It didn't affect performance, but it got me thinking for a few minutes. Note that I only had to use this hub for about 15 minutes, just enough time to get the SSH daemon up and running on my headless Raspbian Pi Zero W setup. If I use it consistently in the future and get more feedback, I will update this review.

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Not the best
