Excellent skimmer! Getting in took a little while. I've read that you can put the drain hose in a container and just take it out of the tank instead of overfilling it. After a few days of spilling from the skimmer onto my socks, I decided to give it a try. I emptied about a gallon in a few hours and then the skimmer basically broke. Another week to really choose it. I left it fairly damp to keep the main body clean. I just empty the drip tray every few days and it's a lot easier to do preventive maintenance than taking the whole skimmer out once a month or even several months. The collection ranges from dark green/yellow to almost black and smells horrible when emptied, however there are no unpleasant odors in my office next to the display case. Free Tip: Use a zip lined foam filter mat on the outlet and you can run this skimmer almost silently and bubble free as it heads back into the sump.
