Beware of overheating

Installed in my aquarium 24 days ago and today the controller was a blank screen and the heater in the aquarium has increased the temperature to over 82 when it was set to 76. I turned the heater off and then plugged it back in for about 30 seconds and the controller was visible again with the setting now at 74 and the water temp is now dropping. Luckily I caught him fast enough not to lose a fish, but I'm not sure I can trust him to keep my tank at the right temperature. The only reason I didn't give it a star is because it appears to have been rebooted and is currently working properly, but until I get a replacement I'm definitely keeping an eye on this situation. Update 3/18/2021: I've been following this closely during the 5 1/2 months it has been in operation. Since then, the temperature has barely been above the setpoint, but the controller no longer displays the setpoint, the LED display is almost completely off. You can still change the setpoint, but you'll need to watch the numbers on the water heater as you change the setting to see what you're setting it to. I currently set it at 75 and the other thermometers in the tank show the current water temp at 76 and the display on the heater shows the water temp at 75.4. This leads me to believe that the problem is with the controls and that the heater itself is a quality product. Update 08/20/2021: The heater failed completely last month and no matter how many times I try to reset it, it keeps showing an error status. I have a 75 gallon fresh water tank, so the water holds the temperature well enough that the heater didn't have to work as hard. I've never let the water level drop below the top of the water heater during a water change, so I have to say I got a lemon, and while there are many good reviews of this water heater (one of the reasons I bought it), I don't think I'll be getting another one and I don't think I'd recommend it to anyone else.
