There are so many of these bike lights out there that it's hard to choose and with fake reviews floating around you never know if the reviews can be trusted. After what seemed like hours choosing a headlight for my son's bike, I settled on this one based on its characteristics and the amount of positive feedback that turned out to come from reviewers with real profiles and a variety of review histories . I was pleasantly surprised that the product exceeded my expectations. First, it's smaller than I expected and much more stylish than the old incandescent bulbs I last bought about 5 years ago. This is probably due to rechargeable lithium ion batteries instead of the 3 AA batteries used in older flashlights. I was a little concerned that charging would be an issue, but I brought an old powered USB hub to the garage, which made charging easier. Speaking of battery life, yesterday we rode 1 hour and 15 minutes and today it's 2.5 hours on a single charge. We mainly used the simple flashing mode for our day trips. By the end of today's ride, the LED in the power button had changed from green to red, indicating low power, but the headlight remained full thanks to lithium-ion power. I don't know how much longer it would have taken, but for our trips, 3 hours and 45 minutes is enough. If you drive a lot at night you might want something with longer battery life, but for most casual drivers who basically need something that makes them more visible to cars, this ticks all the boxes. In terms of brightness, this thing blows my mind. old light bulbs. It's highly visible in bright sunlight and glows in front of the bike at night with a nice, even beam. I don't have anything to measure lumens, but this light won't go unnoticed. When I turn around and catch a glimpse of this light, I keep thinking I'm seeing a car. It's so bright. The light has multiple modes, but on day trips I mostly use the simple flashing mode. It also has smaller amber LEDs flanked by the main white light, slightly improving visibility from the side. Switching between modes is also easy, just press the power button to switch. The mounting strap works great and holds the handlebars securely without slipping. Not sure if the rubber loses some elasticity over time, but for now it's very easy to use and reasonably reliable. Charging is via micro USB. I would prefer USB-C, but that's ok. I don't know how long it takes to charge because I usually just plug it in and it's fully charged the next time I go for a walk. The power button LED blinks red while charging, then turns green when the battery is fully charged. There's a small rubber cover over the charging port that feels a little flimsy and I can easily tell if it's going to be torn off and lost if we're not careful. Overall, for the award, I consider this headlight a winner! I liked it so much that I bought 3! Oh yes, it also comes with a red LED taillight. The taillight runs on button batteries and there are quite a few which is nice but to be honest I don't use a taillight as I have better rechargeable batteries on Amazon. But it's a nice touch, and those little taillights can be good aftermarket parts. They're surprisingly bright too, but changing button batteries is quite a hassle. Hope this helps you decide!
