When you first open the packaging, you immediately notice how poorly made it is. Unfortunately, it gets a lot worse from there. The battery contacts are poorly riveted to the "brass" end leads and the top screw terminals. The negative terminal spring of the battery is simply held loosely under the "brass" end conductor. What you get is about three separate dots at the end of each battery slot, touching intermittently or not at all. The four connected battery trays cannot even be touched without affecting the contacts and thus the overall conductance. Give them to your child at school if you want them to learn about frustration and troubleshooting the hard way. I've included photos to show what I had to do to make it somehow usable. In the first photo, I soldered the spring and riveted it to the "brass" terminal conductor on the negative end. On the positive end you just need to solder the rivet to the end conductor. All surfaces must be sufficiently prepared before soldering. But wait! That's not all! Since the end connectors are also not in constant contact with each other when you connect the bays together, you need to address this issue as well. For each connection I had to add a piece of bus cable that ran right between the screw terminals before tightening them. Also note that some terminal screws are half the length of others. This is a quality imported design in all its glory! She really wasn't worth the time it took to get her to work. It really is a trash can.
