I have to admit I had my doubts when I found after ordering that it was a Hosa. My experience with their cheap parts, corroborated by other reviews and photos showing almost DIY connections, is that you get what you paid for: a basic cable with an expiration date and if you get 6' for $6, little surprise. I've never seen a Hosa with REAN connectors and better parts, but that's it. The cable is thick and well shielded, the connectors are solid, the noise is 0. Do you really need REAN? No, but if you're using a good quality cable, don't skimp on the monitor out or whatever, or if it's your main cable for say an entertainment system to speakers, it might be fine. . Plus, it's still cheap compared to many others. Also, too many people opt for stereo 1/4" TRS. Most of the time, however, you'll be connecting to a two-port input. Most audio gear I've owned is typically L/R, which means you still use a Y-splitter if you're connecting an RCA L/R to a single 1/4" TRS. Another connection, another source of noise best avoided, which makes it particularly useful.
