They offer really great ambient light. Exactly what I wanted for my table. The backlight looks good, although some colors are matte and the number of colors it can represent is limited. The strips are attached to the central unit, which has an IR receiver to work with the remote control. What I really didn't like about this setup is that both strips have to be connected to this central power supply. That means your power supply should be in the middle of where you want to place the strips. I was hoping that the strips could be attached end-to-end, which would give a lot more positioning options. However, with 30ft of light, it was enough for me to reach 3 tables with ease. In fact, I cut off a strip because I just didn't have a way to connect those extra lights. These strips, like many LED strips, have a spot where you can cut them without damaging them between every few LEDs. This will help you dial in the exact length you need if it's shorter than the full 30 feet. Lights have multiple modes they can operate in, but the two are very similar in execution, like strobe and fading depending on the speed set. k. That's good, the speed is adjustable so you can cycle through effects/colors at the speed you want. My son has a device that he can control with a phone app. They don't have that, but they do have a remote control. I have no need for a phone app because most of the time I plan to just install it and forget about it. I am very happy with these lights. They complement my setup perfectly. They are exactly what I needed and no more. I took a star for not being able to put them back to back and for the somewhat weak and limited colors. Not all colors are faint, only a few are faint and inaccurate compared to what you would expect from buttons on a remote control. For example, white is not entirely white. The shades of blue are very similar, purple is hard to tell apart, orange isn't really orange. Once installed you won't notice anything, they just change colors and look good.
