I'm so glad I found these when I was looking for Christmas themed placemats for our kitchen table. Our kitchen is dominated by greens and browns, and our table is dominated by cherry. So many napkins and tablecloths are heavily shades of red that are just so "furry" against the already reddish cherry wood of our table and the darker wood tones of our cabinets. The black, red and white pattern of these rugs caught my eye as soon as I laid them on the table. I like the lollipop pattern on the border and the words. They are so fun to look at and gave our kitchen a little pizzazz for the holidays. They wash well with a sponge but I was very, very careful with the food around them as they are not machine washable. I might have dared, but the packaging and labels on the rugs themselves were all over the place warning that they weren't machine washable, and I didn't want to risk that. But since the background is black, I didn't have to worry too much about the coloring because nothing would penetrate into this dark color in the first place. These are great rugs and I might try to find a few more to replace or oh my god! if one of my dogs decides to steal one from the table and destroy it (unfortunately the fate of many of my everyday rugs) . .
