Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Aven 17530 Soldering Iron Holder featuring Brass Coil Tip Cleaner by Rolando Munoz

Works great but has its own quirks

I bought this soldering iron stand to replace the cheap foldable aluminum part that came with my soldering iron. I chose this holder over all the others because of the spiral tip cleaner, not the sponge. In terms of quality, the holder makes a well-made impression. It's a comfortable weight and doesn't budge on my desk. My complaint about the quality revolves around the tip cleaner. The rolled metal ball comes in its own small pouch and is crumpled very tightly. The plate that the coil sits in doesn't fit very well in the mount. It has side play and can be lifted very easily when in use. I just put tape on the bottom of the board to hold it in place. Let's get back to the spiral tip cleaner. Initially, the cleaner works very well, facilitating tinning of the tip of the iron, but only after intensive use does the ball of rolled metal begin to "unwindโ€ and begin to stretch out of its plate. I've found that it's best to just spin the ball from time to time to avoid this. The holder itself holds my iron in place and does the job perfectly. The only complaint is that it heats up fairly quickly from the outside and can feel warm or almost hot to the touch. Far from melting, but worth mentioning. Despite the cons, I would recommend this holder to anyone who needs a soldering iron holder upgrade.
