Silicone edge protection is ideal for tables. We bought a new desk from Office Depot that looked great online but realized it wasn't made out of real wood. Rather, it is a very thin film with an image of a tree. It is glued to the composite panel. The wood scratched very easily and the edges were cut every time the chair hit the table. We had to mount the edge protection immediately after setting up the table. This silicone kit has everything you need to install the protection and it's not that difficult. But you need to clean both surfaces, apply double-sided tape with a steady hand, and make sure the silicone stays straight as you stick it over the tape. I measured and cut the silicone. After cleaning the surface, I slowly apply the tape, being careful not to stretch it, and moving it in a straight line - 6 inches at a time. Using the included plastic ruler, I press the tape against the table to release as many air bubbles as possible. Then, starting at the inside corner, I ripped off the 6 inch tape and using a steel ruler (to keep the protector straight) laid down the silicone protector. When I wasn't using the ruler, the guard fell in waves when I pressed it. After I was done attaching about 6 inches of protection to the tape, I rubbed some WD40 on the plastic corner tool (to help it slide) and gently pressed the silicone over the tape. This removed the bubbles and made sure it was a good tape. Contact. Even when I was careful, the silicone somehow stretched a little and got longer than it should. I left it like that for a day before trimming it down to size in case it decides to go back to its original size. My first edge didn't look very good, but the other edges came out a lot better once I got the hang of it. Hope that helps.
