I installed this recorder and the associated software on an old Gateway (866) computer with 384 MB RAM. I installed XP Pro on an old workhorse and it works great. Adding a burner was very easy. XP nailed it and installing the software was a breeze. The included software is fine, but I think if I had a more powerful computer and wanted to do more video editing, I would have wished for more. But that's the point of free OEM software, to try and sell you an updated version. For me, the OEM software does the job. The burner has problems with discs (DVD+R) I created on my DVD burner Lite-On 5007, reads them for a few seconds and then stops. It seems to happen with all different programs including Windows. I've tried copying files from the DVD to the hard drive, but no success so far. So far this is my only complaint about the burner. I hope for a quick solution. I have already recorded several discs without a stand. It burns a full 4.7GB DVD in about 13 minutes, which I think is pretty fast. I use HP brand drives and they work fine. Now I can back up the TV shows I want to keep on my hard drive.
