The shelves have a clean, brilliant white finish and look very attractive when mounted to the wall. The instructions say to use the included tape to mark the mounting holes on the wall. The adhesive tape described was not included with us. Your measurements must be accurate or the shelf will not fit. Here is my suggestion for installation. Use two strips of tape and attach them to the wall approximately where the shelf will be installed. Accurately measure the distance from hole to hole on the shelf. Then use a pencil and make two horizontal marks at the exact distance between the holes. Hold the spirit level against the wall and hold it level on two pieces of tape. Now we transfer the markers from the layer to the tape. Mark a horizontal line and vertical lines from hole to hole. Make an imprint with the awl at each marked spot. Start with a small 1/16" drill bit and cut the 3/16" diameter hole needed for the mounting insert. When drilling holes, be sure to hold the drill perpendicular to the wall in both directions. Insert the inserts into the holes, then screw in the fasteners just enough to cover the threads. Well hopefully you were accurate enough to line up the pins with the holes. You will bend a little. Place the shelf on the pins and press the shelf onto the pins with the palm of your hand. If you've measured accurately, the shelf should be nice and flat. Much luck. Oh, and make sure the drill doesn't hit the side of the stud. This will make the hole crooked. This happened to me in a hole. My wife was very happy with how the shelves looked when I installed them. Just take your time and be very precise with your measurements and drilling.
