I really wanted to love this bag but it needs some work

I really wanted to love this bag. In terms of design, the shape design is very convenient to carry a small pet. Inside there's even a belt/necklace attachment and carabiner for a leash on the back. However, the praise ends there. This isn't a true backpack style, and twisting the mesh cover or top cover is awkward. In fact, the top flap kept opening without tightening it. I put my dog in there and she only weighs 9.8 pounds and barely reaches 13 inches (not counting the tail). However, she can only sit in it. And there's no room for a decent camera and first-aid kit (or even any of those things). This is important for me. While my furry best friend has definitely gotten older, that doesn't mean we don't have some serious hikes that she needs to take breaks from. But we still need some sense of security (water, snacks, first aid) that doesn't fit. I even tried buying accessories this week to see if I could attach it to this backpack, but the extra straps in this backpack are for design rather than functionality, as they're trying to fit a soft foam sleeve (for a camera or attaching a homemade first aid) ) are not securely attached to the straps or backpack. If the straps, side vents, and front trim were actual attachment points, I'd probably keep this. But for the price I'm returning it until I find a better solution. I will work with my 36L camera bags from Osprey or brands that offer more space and better protection (for dogs and cameras).

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some bugs
