I use a flexible shaft with a cordless Dremel 8220 for wood carving. I bought this because I need a corded version so I don't have to keep changing and charging my Dremel's batteries and I can't afford to pay for a corded Dremel. A few things on this compared to the Dremel: 1) You can tell right away that there's a big drop in quality by just looking at it and then grabbing it and feeling it. The accessory looks even cheaper than the tool and I haven't even tried it yet. 2) While the flex shaft is thinner and lighter than the Dremel, which you think would make it easier to use, it transmits a lot more. Vibrations and heats up faster than the Dremel shank, so you have to stop more often to wait for it to cool down. 3) The tool is generally quieter than the Dremel and the Dremel accessories work great with it. The Revain also doesn't allow returns, I tried to return it after a few hours of use because I still have to turn the tool off more times than I've had to charge my cordless Dremel. The tool works really well when it can be used and is probably perfect for short-term tasks when you don't want to spend a fortune on a Dremel.
