Really well made - had to be modified to fit

This is a great $20 dog coat! Seriously, very well made with quality materials. This coat offers what few coats offer. and it covers the front of my dog's chest. Most dog coats leave this area wide open. When a dog walks through the snow without covering his chest, it's like going outside and throwing a coat over his back like a cloak. what's the use of keeping warm? It does not make sense. Well, this coat is well thought out and expertly made and is easy to slip on and off. My dog has a short coat (and is a big baby when it comes to cold weather) and an 18" neck with a 28" chest and nothing seems to fit him. Judging by her 18x28 neck and chest size, this meant that size XXXL was optimal. Then the next size up will look like it's too big. That's how it arrived, and the thing fit so snugly, it was almost too tight. 19" literally means 19". Since yesterday was the first day of snow and it's cold outside, I had no choice but to modify this coat to better fit her. This took less than an hour. I just lengthened the neck collar by adding a velcro extension. It was easy. I repurposed an old bum bag from a similar material. It worked great. The only complaint I have about this coat is the pathetic, useless little white stretchy straps that are supposed to hold the back of the coat on the dog's back. cut it off They irritated my dogs hind legs. Instead, they should just have a simple Velcro or elastic strap just behind the rib cage that holds the coat to the dog's back. so it actually helps keep the body warm. Here's what I did. I've added a soft wide buckle strap (from the same converted fanny pack) and it works great! The back half of the cloak now wraps around her torso instead of just sitting on her back. So if your dog's measurements match their scales, you're in luck. If not, and if you know how to use a sewing machine, then this coat is a great base to start with. I have plans to add a jersey or fleece lining around the neck to keep the snow out even better. (After years of searching for a dog coat that would "fit" right away, I decided to just give up hope and switch to something that was 90% what I wanted. This coat gave me that. Well I recommend it for that reason - it's really well made and easy to modify)
