Looks like a genuine GM part. Came in a box with GM tag with GM holography, barcode and QR code. The label says Made in China. The original part of my 1989 Chevy S10 was assembled in Mexico. Fits and still works. Keep in mind that if you can't route the cable through the steering column, you may need to disassemble the top part. My cruise control plug was stuck in the pillar and I had to remove components up to the ignition switch and rocker box. It's a pain and there are a lot of small details. If you need to disassemble the pillar, you will need a steering wheel puller and a steering lock plate compression tool to make the job easier.
