Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Effortless Paddle Installation: Introducing POWERTEC 71651 Paddle Installation Hardware by Greg Princeking

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It looked very nice and I read a lot of reviews.

Bought this switch to fix an old Grizzly TSC-10L table saw. Looks very good and I read a lot of reviews before buying. Let's just say that the reviewers who said this shifter is too big for a full-size box are absolutely correct. It's too big, but there's an even more annoying problem. Contacts inside are not soldered from dust. A few weeks after installation I had to take it apart to remove the sawdust inside and it worked again for a couple of weeks before failing again. This time I tore it all the way open the back. Check out the actual shift mechanism. The neutral conductor contacts were so badly charred due to the ingress of dust that they no longer made contact. Sanding it down with sandpaper solved the problem, but after seeing how easily dust can get in I decided just not to bother with reinstalling. Instead I used a standard 20A toggle switch and overlay. Now my saw works again with a regular sized box and no cord to plug in. It's unfortunate that this is actually a nice looking product, but the design is flawed in that it's not dust proof, which is something to consider if this is a switch meant for tools that produce a lot of dust. I can't even imagine. the problems you might have if it was used in a metal shop and metal dust and shavings must have gotten into that switch.
