We got this extension to put the phone in the living room. This extra code made it possible and so far we haven't seen any loss of quality or cable issues at all. Details: We use Comcast's phone service which is VOiP from their cable modem. Comcast placed the modem in our master bedroom as the cable enters our home from the outside. We've tried keeping the base next to the modem in the master bedroom, but to be honest we never succeeded. So we wanted a phone with an answering machine in the living room. We had two choices: (a) move the modem into the living room and re-attach the ethernet cord and cables, or (b) use a very long phone extension cord. We choose (b) and have never had any problems with this solution. It was easy to implement and just works.
