Review on ๐Ÿ—„๏ธ Organize with Style: Oak & Black Slim Multimedia Storage Tower by Glen Needham

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice addition to DVD storage

I gave a review recently but not sure if it was accepted so I'm giving a second review. I originally read some other reviews posted over a year ago complaining of poorly fitting parts and assembly confusion. I, on the other hand, have found that the towers are very easy to put together. The illustrated assembly instructions were so clear that you had to make mistakes on purpose. Each sidewall has only one large hole and only two inserts (cams) of the same diameter as the holes. The cam even has an arrow showing the installation direction. This means that these inserts can only be installed in one place. The assembly instructions show two wooden dowels that are inserted into the pre-drilled holes next to the cams. On both of my devices, the dowels fit snugly in the holes. No hammer needed. Could there be better quality control now than the other reviews? The top panel also has pre-drilled holes to accommodate the exposed wooden dowel pieces protruding from the side panels. Before assembling the top plate, there are two blue flared pins (Blue Quick Rods) that are inserted into the remaining two pre-drilled holes in the side panels, with the threaded portion of the pins protruding from the side panels. At this point the bodice can be attached to the side panels and again you can't go wrong as the finished front of the bodice is clearly facing forward. The cams can now be turned using a Phillips screwdriver pressing the top against the sides. Then four legs need to be nailed to the underside of the base. I set mine about 3/4" on each side and just used a hammer, no pre-drilling required. There are now only four screws in the kit and four holes in the base that line up with the two pre-drilled holes on each side panel , so the assembly of the base is evident from the sides. The base frame of the tower is now strong enough to be stacked on the faces of the side panels. Make sure the tower is not resting on the front edge of the top and bottom plates. At this point I checked that the unit was square with the square set and my two towers were in place The back panel can now be nailed in making sure the panel is centered on the sides, top and bottom I followed the directions for placing the top four nails, then measured the remaining nail locations so they were all equally spaced Inserts for the shelf ms assemblies are installed at levels appropriate for your application and the inserts are slightly snug for installation. I could insert many by hand, but some required pliers to push them all the way in. I have found consistently excellent quality and easy to assemble with very pleasing results. I'm 83 years old and if I can put them together then you can trust me. And all I needed was a hammer, a Phillips screwdriver, pliers, a pencil, a tape measure and about 3/4 hours to put two towers together.

Pros
  • Made from high quality laminated composite wood
Cons
  • Something different
