Review on HydraPak Flux Collapsible Water Bottle For Backpacking (1 Liter) - BPA-Free, Lightweight, Twist-Off Cap - Malibu Blue by Mario Haan

Decent Bottle / Terrible Valve

This bottle was great for being able to collapse down when empty which is what i was looking for on hikes and backpacking. However it has that terrible pressure release valve type of opening. So there is no way to control the flow rate of water. There is virtually no situation where using a water container should be high pressure release of the water or nothing. Even simply trying to fill a small container with water for cooking or drinking proves to be a pain since you have to squeeze hard to get water to flow and then maintain that pressure or the water stops. Also when taking the cap off I feel like I am going to damage the seal around the bottle and threaded area for the cap. There should be a firm piece of plastic around that to grip onto to loosen and tighten the cap. The bottle itself seems to hold up ok just a terrible cap design choose for something intended to hold water for the outdoors. The 1-1.5 L collapsable water bottle is a much desired product but when you can’t control the flow rate from it it is useless for anything other than people drinking right from the bottle and that gets more and more difficult the less water you have in the bottle.

Pros
  • The collapsible construction makes it easy to pack alongside other essentials
Cons
  • The plastic material may not be eco-friendly or sustainable
