Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Acer Predator Triton 500 PT515-52-73L3 Gaming Laptop: Intel i7-10750H, GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, 15.6" FHD 300Hz Display by James Richardson

Good price, bought during the daily sale/flash sale.

Paid $1300 for it on the $1800 offer and got a quality car for the price. I mainly use it for MMO games - Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy XIV. I play some of the more outlandish games like Warframe and Pinball. My previous machine was about 6 years old and had a 7th Gen Intel chip with a 1060 graphics card. I decided it was time to upgrade to a 10th Gen Intel with a 2070 Super Q. The main thing that struck me is the amazing screen. 300Hz out of 60, which means I can display 300 frames per second (FPS). In fact, I often get around 130-150 on ultra-high graphics settings in the (old, CPU-hungry) games I play. My pinball scores skyrocketed with higher FPS. I'm getting more clutch kills/heals in League of Legends. Squads win in games. I played Control to test its pace and it held up very well. Control uses ray tracing and the difference between rtx on and rtx off is huge, but not many games support it at the time of writing. For me it was a beautiful place. I wanted 3080 but the prices were ridiculous. My 7th Gen Intel 1060 chip wasn't delivering high frame rates at high graphics settings in modern games. I'm hoping to skip the 30xx generation and include the 40xx series when the 50xx comes out. If I can, it will be theft. If I break down and buy the 30xx series, I probably feel like I should have waited a little longer and skipped the 20xx generation.

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • The list is growing.
