First of all, I may have a defective device. It was plugged into a USB port on my computer. Due to the static electricity inherent in the office, I received an electric shock when I touched it. The computer issued a USB disconnect notification, but it reappeared. The second time the computer made the same noise and then just shut down. Didn't turn back on. It turned out that the motherboard was burned out. Thinking it was a coincidence, I bought a new computer and this time connected it to a PCIE card that came with two USB 4.0 ports. Static shock again today and it stopped working with another device connected to this card. The card itself burns. I've learned my lesson and am sending this computer killer back for compensation immediately.
