Very happy with the dehumidifier. But it took a while for the drain hose to actually empty. I wanted to make a continuous drain into the a/c condensate pump bucket about 5 inches high. Raise the unit so the hose connector is 15 inches off the ground and 10 inches above the drain pump inlet and connect a garden hose. (Fig. 1) who walked across the ground to the swamp; it does not work. I then tried a 1/2 inch clear pipe so I could see that the drain was working (Figure 2), but I could see the pipe had just filled. but did not flow into the pan. All this time I corresponded with their service department who seemed concerned and wanted to help but had no ideas. Without disassembling the unit to see how it works I came to the conclusion that 1. the drain is not a closed system so filling was not possible and 2. the condensate drains slowly; no pressure on him. It appears that the pressure required to raise the water in the hose the required 5 inches creates a back pressure that pushes the condensate into the condensate bucket. Drain pump (Fig. 3) and it worked fine, but due to the location I had to step over this pipe every time I needed to enter a small storage room (I wanted the unit to be outside of this cupboard in a large room). . Finally (Fig. 4) I adapted (drip irrigation) a flexible but fairly rigid 1/4 inch diameter polyethylene tubing (used for ice machines). Not sure if it's because the smaller diameter allows for a minimal amount of water to create back pressure, or because it's so rigid it doesn't really rest on the ground, it seems capable to be to manage a continuous trickle from unity. I'm happy now. Hope you all have the same luck.
