These were our favorite sandals for a few years when my 14 year old son was younger. They're great - they have all the characteristics of the Ken but not as wide and definitely lighter. They're also a lot lighter than the Merrells he wore for a couple of years. These kamiks always lasted the whole summer: even when the sole began to wear out, the velcro and elastic were in excellent condition. This year I bought these for my 9-year-old daughter, among others, and she immediately fell in love with them. We've had Keens and Merrells over the years but these are definitely our favorites. Ironically, she liked the teal color my son used to have. I have déjà vu every time she wears them... :-) She is between size 4 and 5. These 4 sandals fit her perfectly and she has room to grow. If you are between sizes, I recommend going down a size.
