You can't get high temperatures at low fan speeds because they block the extra heating coil on the fan speed switch. The high speed of this device is more like a hair dryer than a traditional heat gun. The heat is not concentrated and you end up heating up everything around you. This is good for bending tubing outdoors, it's really BAD for shrink wrapping next to delicate parts. Now for the data: the temperature scale goes from 1 to 6 (not in degrees), and almost all temperature controls fall between 5 and 6. 1 is room temperature, 2/low is 135 degrees, 4/high is 130 degrees, 4/low is 250 degrees, 5/ low and 5/ high is 500 degrees, 6/ low is 550, the rest are out of range of my 570 degree grill thermometer but considering the circuitry at lower settings the max temp is somewhere under 700 degrees . Comparing this supposedly 2000 watt device to my 40 year old 1200 watt device is pretty sad. The old one is hotter because it moves too much air. This measures 800W max at low fan speed and 1600W max at high fan speed. Minimum temperature settings: 60W on low and 80W on high fan.
