I needed a pair of scissors for work that is compact and fits easily in my tool belt pouch. The fact that these scissors can be folded down to handle size fits the bill indeed. So, in terms of portability, if a pen fits in there, it can fit in there too. The scissors arrived nice and sharp and the cutting action is what I expected from this thing. The main purpose of the scissors is to cut paper, cellophane or thin colored plastic sheets for my work. If I need to cut something thicker than thick paper, I have a blade on my tool belt for that. The design of the scissors is made of cheap plastic. So I STRONGLY advise against buying them if you need to cut cardboard or thick cardboard. Get something more useful. Such a pair is actually only intended to cut individual sheets at the same time. The lid that covers the blades is more or less tight. It doesn't "click" or snap into place with a security tab or anything like that. I can imagine that at some point I will lose the limit. So when I bought them for $6.99, you pretty much got what you pay for. And right now it does exactly what I need it to do. But to be honest I know they will break in the near future and then I will look for something else that is more durable. I hope that was helpful!
