Bad Tech Good for Parts

Let's start with the knuckles – Rough Country had an issue with forging the knuckles for the lift but didn't account for the change in upper arm angle. Rough Country's solution is that you have to cut the upper arm stop off the truck - brilliant! Other knuckle kits I have installed increase the distance between the upper and lower ball joints to correct the angle. Second, the kit lowers the front axle by about an inch with included shims. Once you get over the fact that you have to cut the cooling fins off the diff case and cut a notch in the existing cross member to accommodate the drop, take a look at what Rough Country has to offer as a replacement skid plate. I suspect they don't consider your steering to be an important component. The OEM skid plate will not snap into place after the axle drops. Yes, there are always ways to bypass this and use an OEM license plate, but we're not paying for that, are we? Third, if any of this means anything to you, you'll also be disappointed with Rough Country, which tells you how to take it all apart but doesn't give specific torque specs to put things back together - just too lazy. mine that I had to send it back. In my opinion I would have screwed it up if it had been constructed correctly. Really disappointed in Rough Country. 2018 Silverado 4x4 1500. I'm not a mechanic or shop worker, just a handyman. Hope this helps someone.
