It doesn't work at all!
I was excited to try this because I was tired of switching cables between Xbox and Chromecast. The excitement lasted only a few seconds. With only one Chromecast connected, the video plays, but there is a very pronounced static sound along with the video sounds. When I have my Chromecast and Xbox connected, all I get is a blank screen and nothing else.
