Review on Wi-Fi Mesh system TP-LINK Deco P9 (2-pack), white by Mateusz Banasiuk ᠌

Not a bad product, but you can find a better one.

Bought 2-pack. General impressions are controversial. On the plus side, it works. Wi-fi turned out to be organized anywhere in the apartment and the switching is seamless. At the second point (connected via wi-fi + PLC), the speed is much lower. According to the tariff - 500 Mbps, at the first point (connected by wire) - holds about 500 via wifi, at the second - no more than 100 Mbps (both wifi and wire). It turned out to increase the speed at the 2nd point when setting points in the line of sight. But there was no big increase - 150 Mbps. Maybe when connected with a wire - the situation will be better, but I originally wanted it without wires. PLC, according to support, only works when both points "see" each other. Those. either wi-fi should finish, or a wire. If the wire - then the need for a PLC disappears. There were problems with the connection - the devices and the access point themselves "choose" the optimal mode. Devices were connected by default on N and 2.4 GHz. Transferring to AC and 5GHz turned out only 1 laptop (out of 4 supporting devices). Accordingly, the speed of the internal network is far from the declared ones. Support could not offer anything, except for the replacement of devices.

Pros
  • Seamless switching.
Cons
  • 1. PLC works only if wi-fi "finishes" to the second point. Its benefits are debatable. 2. You cannot set the operating mode (for example, AC 5GHz). 3. There is no standard wall mount.
