Review on Genie 100 OEM Genie Corp by Pete Norris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to install, works great

My Genie garage door opener (probably 15 years old since I bought a used house) started making a horrible rumble and would not open or close, but made no noise noise when I disconnect the bottom bracket from the screw drive. This indicated a bad promotion. I was very happy to find this item at Revain. Installation was very simple: 1) Pull the manual release cord on the slide to disengage it from the screw drive. 2) Remove the cotter pin/bolt from the old slide and angle bar that attaches to the garage door (leave the bar attached to the door) 3) Remove a nut holding the track to the front of the garage 4) Hold the Hold the rail firmly with one hand and gently slide the rail just a few inches out of the way to allow it to slide off the existing carriage. NOTE: After you pull the carriage out you will probably find that some/many/all teeth are broken facing the gate 6 ) re-pin the guide to the front of the garage 7) re-pin the corner to the carriage fasten 8) remove the rope from the old carriage and tie it to the new one 9 ) engage carriage e by pulling the release lever; After pulling the lever up, I found that a slight wiggle back and forth gave me comfort as I could hear/feel the teeth snapping along the screwdriver. That's a maximum of 10 minutes of work. I removed my bottom bracket before buying a new one here to make sure there were no issues and as I mentioned in a note above the broken teeth confirmed my suspicions. To reiterate what some other people have said, this is NOT a magnetic cart. Execution. If you look closely at the two models sold here, you will see a magnet located above and to the right of the release lever.
