We have a portable solar panel that is used to charge a lithium energy center. Panel 120 W. Our camper has 900 watts on the roof and I would also like to be able to use a portable panel to get the maximum power over 1 kW. The solar panel has many plugs that I can use. One of them is a DC8 connector that connects to the Power Center. This cable has a female DC8 connector that connects to a male DC8 connector on the solar panel. The opposite end of the chord is a standard SAE male connector that properly plugs into the RV's side solar port. Also importantly, this wire gauge is 10 AWG, which helps protect against power loss from the panel to the RV. I plan to complete the 3ft length with a 10ft SAE extension, also 10AWG. Combining it with about 4 feet of cable from the solar panel should give us enough maximum cable to place the portable panel in the sunniest spot. Warning: If you are using an SAE plug to connect to the side port like we use, make sure your positive side on the side port (red) matches the positive side of the cable. I've found that you can easily connect the wrong pages if you're not careful. Plan it first and plan accordingly.
