Review on Spectra Premium FN907 Fuel Tank Filler Neck: Unmatched Quality and Performance by Darryl Buck

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's good if you get a good one.

I was fitted with a filler neck in a workshop. They said it was pretty easy to install. Unfortunately there is a leak where the plug enters the filler neck. I've tried 2 new caps and still have a leak and soon the service engine light comes on. I'm getting either a Big Leak code or a Small Leak. To pass the inspection, I have to remove the gas cap and tape the filler neck after filling up, and I hope I don't have a service engine on fire anytime soon. This has worked for me for 2 years in a row. Once I remove the tape I can see light within a few hundred miles or even less. The codes have to go through cycles before I can be tested in New York. The original filler neck I had on the car had a door at the end of the filler neck that opened when the fuel pump pushed the filler neck. This Spectra neck doesn't have that door, although it looks like there must be something there as there is a notch where the door looks like it will snap. I'm still wondering if it should be on the Spectra neck. I can't find a way to contact Spectra to see if it should be. I've added a photo to show what I mean. In general, if the buyer has no other pen choice, this pen will fit and hopefully the buyer will get one that doesn't have the same problems as me.

Pros
  • Fuel system
Cons
  • Not everything fits
