Things usually break at the weakest point, and that's the case here. This broke at the top. the part of the hose splitter that screws onto the faucet, that is plastic on the outside, and is lined with brass. And at the top of this lining is a thin moveable ring (the rubber washer sits just under this lip). It is the thin brass ring that broke. This ring seems to be what holds the lower brass splitter to the plastic upper part, because when the ring broke the splitter fell to the ground.I had ordered this in December to replace a plastic hose splitter, thinking that a good solid brass one would be better since the plastic one broke. When I turned on this faucet early May 2022 to water some plants, I saw that the it was leaking at the top. Then I tightened it, and it broke.What's the point of having a nice solid lower portion of the faucet when it will only be supported by a thin piece of metal?I'll add a photograph soon to show where it broke.
