Original rating: No motor or water movement. A little rumble would be nice, but a quiet engine is great (and unusual). The light is pretty bright, but a little rock on top solves that problem. We were disappointed with the quality of the material but for the price it seems like a good fountain. Checked after 1 month - still no murmurs or noises from the water but the motor is NO LONGER quiet and humming! ! ! The most distracting and annoying sound. BUT the crate etc. is no longer in operation, including disposal, so it is no longer possible to take it back. A real bummer. Another touch up - 2 months later - the black border is peeling off and the white base is showing through - not a very attractive look. :( And again revision: about 4 months after the initial adjustment, the motor died. Fortunately, there was an extra one in the house and now it is in the fountain. Unfortunately, the light no longer works, but the fountain "gurgles" for the first time And, more than a month or so, and the fountain goes in the trash, so much of the surface has worn away it looks crappy.
