This is a good starter set for beginners, children and hobbyists who don't want to spend a lot of money. Other reviews mentioned problems with seams in the plastic making the instruments less than ideal. I'm not sure why these users are having issues with the seams as there are absolutely no seams on the flat part of the tool used for smoothing - only the narrow backs and handles have seams. Despite being plastic they are quite strong and cut through oil/wax based clay with ease. The roller works well too - it's hollow but strong enough to roll hard clay.
