Review on 🐈 okocat Original Low-Dust Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter with Enhanced Odor Control, 19.8 lbs. by Kimberly Khaltai

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I bought all the tacky coquettes so you don't have to!

I'm about to write a review I'd like to see before I buy this! Tl;Dr: Okocat filler is the best. The original is very massive, Supersoft is much thinner, featherweight is about the same; Supersoft is my favorite. This is really an incredible throw. It is very good! Okocat seriously outperforms all competitors, especially when it comes to dust. I've tried switching my cats to litter other than clay but didn't want to spend a fortune or mess with bugs (wheat, walnut). , corn filler.) Cheap wood filler is really dusty (cat's pine), smells bad (odorless catalyst), clumps badly (sorry cat's pine), or contains unnecessary additives (of course), so I tried to find one that would fix those problems as well. We came from Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Unscented, a very fine, odorless clay that my cats loved. It had quite a bit of dust, clumped well, and was easy to scoop. I started with Okocat Original because it was really cheap. I ended up buying three types of Okocat (Original, Supersoft, and Featherweight) because the original was awesome, but my little cat didn't like the texture very much (my big kitty had no trouble). I added photos. all three varieties and their quarter structure for scaling so you can see the differences between all three. The original Okocat was about 50 cents a pound when I bought it, even cheaper than my clay filler! (Remember that wood is also lighter than clay, so equal weight doesn't mean equal volume. And it was a big box!) It took much, much longer than my clay bedding. noticed when i received it it was Original CHONKY. I was shocked. The "grains" of the litter are straight pieces of wood. This makes scooping difficult, as it takes a little shaking to finally separate the granules from the clumps. Personally I can live with that, but my husband hates making it because he thinks it's wasteful and takes forever. (Update: I got one of these shovels and it solves all of our shovel problems! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X4VSNX7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_ZACJXPKQ0ZKZ6KT6PAP7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) Wood smells nice (like fresh sawdust), fight Smells incredible and the filler absorbs moisture perfectly so the box stays DRY! The original doesn't stick as well as the other types because again it's chunky as hell, but that also means it doesn't stick to the tray at all and NO DUST is created. The smell of wood goes away after a while, but somehow it doesn't smell in my tray at all! Another advantage of large chunks is that they rarely get far because the chunks just don't fall into my cats' paws. If you prefer a litter that doesn't wobble and don't mind sifting large chunks, this is also the cheapest option. My big kitty uses this tray all the time, but my tiny cat with her tiny paws doesn't seem to like it very much. This Okocat was absolutely *perfect* except for the texture. I would still buy it again without hesitation if I couldn't get the other two. So next I bought Supersoft. And it's, well, a lot softer. The grains are much smaller. Much closer to the clay texture than the original, but still no "sawdust". It's actually not dusty at all. I don't know what Okocat conjures up for that, but its competitors with similar textures just are NOT comparable. The sides of my trays are SO CLEAN. Absence of dust plumes during sieving. In any case, the texture isn't entirely uniform due to the presence of even larger grains, but it's nowhere near as large as the original. I usually throw away the larger grains because they get stuck in the scoop and the rest falls through. My little cat still seems to prefer the sandy texture of clay, but she uses this (and prefers it over the original), presumably because it's softer on her little paws and is more like clay. This is the linen she used when the pot was too dirty for her liking; Now that she doesn't have a clay box, she uses it all the time. Supersoft definitely clumps and sticks better than original. It's just as absorbent as the original; The litter box cleans up like an absolute sleeper with nothing attached to the sides. However, due to the finer grain, it tracks more than the original. This one usually costs about 20 cents a pound more than the original but I totally agree with the difference in texture which my cat prefers and the lighter spoon. Last time I tried featherweight was when I discovered it existed. It appears to be sold exclusively through a major pet store chain, although I've seen a third party stock it at Revain as well. At around 90 cents a pound, it's the most expensive of the three. In short, it's supersoft without the big chunks. It's hard to tell the difference between the two to be honest, but I think they might be more consistent. I think this one seems dustier than Supersoft. Regardless, it works just like Supersoft. I'll buy this one if it's cheaper than Supersoft, but other than that I'll just stick with Supersoft.
