good image display - read the instructions!

Bought to replace a digital picture frame that no longer works. There are many things I really like about this device. First, it has a touchscreen, making it much easier to use than my previous one, which only had a few buttons. Second, it connects to Wi-Fi (2.4GHz, that's 802.11b/g, so that's not a problem for me). This means I don't have to constantly move my USB drive or SD card around. You can also email photos to the frame, so you can use your device to send photos to a distant relative. It was very easy to add the device to my Wi-Fi network. I was very excited that it came with an app. I don't like reading manuals, but I couldn't get the app to work without reading the manual. The instructions in the manual are pretty clear - you have to look into the settings to find the device ID, but the screen seemed to show me the device ID explaining what to do, so I've tried it multiple times to no avail used. It would be better if this screen didn't show me the ID. There are a couple of things that prevent me from giving this 5 stars: Firstly, usage of the photo upload app counts towards the 10GB quota. Once you use it, you need to buy more data for $10/10GB. (Looking at my last photo means I can upload about 3,000 photos before hitting my data limit, but I'm sure videos will eat that up quickly). Since my app is on the same WiFi as the frame, I would prefer to communicate directly with the frame. That means I may be using the FTP interface, which seems pretty outdated for 2021 (and the manual says it only works for windows, but I can't figure out why that could be true, but I have a machine with Windows, so I don't check others). I was able to upload a photo via FTP without any problems. Second, it only supports SD cards up to 32GB. Third, I have to use the touch screen to delete photos. I cannot delete them from the application or the FTP interface. All in all it's a good device and we really enjoy showing slideshows of family photos.
