Review on ๐ŸŽค Silver Sony ECMCS3 Omnidirectional Stereo Microphone - Clip Style Design by Tracy Wilcox

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good value for money! Works with MacBook Pro and Tascam DR-40 with the right adapters!

Stereo microphone with two inputs (left and right). This mic works well and picks up my voice with minimal background noise. The noise level is reduced with some fine tuning. It feels like an economy class mic and is made of plastic. But overall good value for money. This microphone only requires the power that the line level (3.5 mm jack) provides. No need for batteries. Make sure you plug it into an outlet that delivers that power. I use it to create simple instructional videos and live commentary on my video games. Later I will supplement this with a video review. This is good value for money if you intend to use 3.5mm mics. From here you can use microphones with an XLR connector, and while they're relatively cheap, you'll need some sort of sound card/audio recorder or camcorder with an XLR input. You also need to be aware of power requirements such as phantom power or battery power (some of these mics come with batteries!) COMPATIBILITY Out of the box compatible with my Canon 6D. I added an extension cable (C2G/Cables To Go 13787 3.5mm Shielded Stereo Audio Extension Cable M/F (6ft/1.82m) to increase the range! Doesn't work directly with MacBook Pro. I have got this to work with MacBook Pro 15 Retina with cheap adapter cell phone audio splitter with one 3.5mm male (TRRS) and two 3.5mm female (TRS), one for external 3.5mm -Speakers and one for external microphone 3.5mm from ZaxSound UPDATE: I have used this successfully with a Tascam DR-40 4-track portable digital recorder with an XLR male to 3.5mm female CamDesign Stereo 3.5 -mm Mini Female to XLR Male Adapter Audio Adapter for Tascam Recorder Zoom H5N Rode Videomic Videomic Pro Sennheiser Mke400 Canon XA20 XA25 But you need to install Tascam DR-40 on Microphone + Phantom Power DO NOT use phantom power with 6.35mm male to 3 adapter 5mm this may damage your mic i think the adapter pas connects the phantom power to the mains voltage. Not sure.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
