I use thread quickly because I rip off a good 24 inches so I can wrap it around my finger so it doesn't slip off. But that's good because I can reuse it like your toothbrush. I use one of these pads every 4-5 days with decent usage. If I'm very careful, I can save myself a few more days of use. And using it is much easier than putting your fingers in your mouth. You have no taste. You can probably buy flavored ones somewhere. Thickness is good at first, but quickly starts to fall apart after the first few uses. It becomes a stream of sorts in the latter stages of use, but still works. I just wish it was a little more durable. Regular yarn is more durable than these inserts. In general, it's better to use them carefully and not so aggressively. Edit (3 months later): I changed my rating from 5 to 2. After using it for 3 months I have noticed that this does not clean my teeth nor floss. The terter seems to build up more when I use it instead of flossing. The reason I think is that the thread on these picks is too thin. I think they are flimsy to break and you need to buy more from the company that makes them. Very sneaky. I would not recommend them. You're fine if you don't have filament. I won't buy any of these refills when I'm gone.
