Keedox HDMI to Composite and S-Video Converter

I sent a message to the seller asking for the date of receipt which was about a month later. I received a very warm reply from the seller explaining that Revain does not have a "shipment receipt period" which allows them to specify the exact number of days before the buyer receives the item. I was told he would be here on April 2nd, not 30 days later. Arrived on April 2nd as promised. The device comes with an S-video cable, a composite video cable, a small power adapter and a small instruction manual. At first I was very disappointed with the device. As a result, I spent several hours getting the device to work before discovering a two-part problem: (1) I couldn't get the device to stream composite video to my DVD burner, and (2) - The real one Reason I spent so much time getting the unit up and running - the S-Video connector in the unit required considerable excessive force to make a usable connection between the S-Video cable and the converter. Regarding (1) above, I can't verify if the composite video function works. I couldn't get my direcTV Genie (or "old" satellite receiver) to stream the composite image to either the TV or the converter. For that reason I can't fault the converter as I couldn't get composite video from any of the satellite receivers. Someone else has to criticize this feature. Regarding (2) above, if I had known that the S-Video connector in the converter was defective, I could have saved myself a few hours trying to connect. While physically expending what I thought was almost too much effort, I finally found a "sweet spot" that the plug liked, and the device started working as expected. After getting it working with the S-Video cable, the converter worked exactly as advertised. . The only reason I gave the device four stars is a problem with the port. The picture transferred to the DVD recorder is excellent and the HD output is downgraded well. Crisp video and bright colors now let my DVD burner do its job. As with all S-Video connections, the sound doesn't migrate with the signal and it took me a few tries to finally find the right combination of audio connections between the receiver, recorder and TV. In my particular case, these audio connections were difficult to make as I use a Sony wireless headset due to my poor hearing. It would be great if the device had separate S-Video related audio input and output connectors, eliminating the need to route audio around the converter.
