I'm a techie, no question. My wife keeps complaining about my cables. Sorry honey, I just added a little bit more. There are times when you want to drive two HDMI displays from one output. In my case, the main use was a TV and a projector. Sometimes 55 inches is enough, sometimes 110 inches is needed. This means I no longer have to swap cables, both devices are operated via the same output from my receiver and then via this adapter. This requires 5V power from the USB adapter but a cable is included and I'm sure it improves the quality. The only downside is that you need more cables. If you're currently connected to a device, you'll need to unplug it and plug in this splitter, which means a short HDMI cable is needed, as well as a second cable for the second device. Not unexpected, just something to remember when ordering, take a few more cables with you. If you need it, you know it and you should get it. You will be happy.
