the part fixed the issue and works fine. I'm very knowledgeable about cars, but installing it on my 2003 Ford Explorer wasn't easy. The device is located on the driver's side just below the air controls. I had to remove the center console and the cover under the steering wheel. The block if you were sitting in the driver's seat would be at your knee. Once everything is removed, you'll find that the gearbox is behind a fixed part of the dash that you can't remove. There are 3 screws holding it in place, of course there is one screw you can't see from above so you'll need to use a tool cover. Once I got the controller out, repairing it with the kit was an easy process. I recommend this set but it took longer than I expected.
