For reference, I'm 5'4 at 240lbs and normally wear an XL. I ordered the XL and wonder if maybe I could have gotten away with the Large. The material is lightweight, thin, and very stretchy. It is flattering and super cute, however it is not very forgiving so if you have a belly, it will pop out. It looked super good on, but the straps kept falling off my shoulders and it is very low cut. There were a couple distressed holes on the back so depending on the type of underwear you wear, your skin might show. Overall, I think this is a super cute dress, I just personally don't feel comfortable with my belly.
