Review on 🧡 Beadsmith Beading Needles Size #13 by Wendy Rodriguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Perfect size for 4mm drilled gems but HARD to thread

Perfect for hand knitting gems with 0.4mm holes. IF you can thread the needle! I am using size 0 or E 3 ply silk thread and it is still VERY difficult to successfully thread the little eye. Getting two strands out of three through the eye is pretty good (laughs), but hopefully practice will show better results. I started combining a few tips I found in Google search results: 0. Carry a magnifying glass or work under a magnifying glass (almost YOU are the most important tip! 1. Grow the thread to make it a bit to stiffen) 2. Cut the end of the silk thread at an angle to make a point 3. Use pliers to slightly flatten the end of the thread 4. Pinch the thread between your thumb and forefinger and pull up until only the tip of the thread is showing; keep pressure on thread5. Insert the eye of the needle into the tip of the thread (but not the thread into the eye of the needle) and release the pressure on the thread when it comes together. I hope you thread enough thread through the eyelet to pull it through in one go without unraveling any of the layers. In this way I have successfully tied three 4mm sapphire rondelles, two graduated moonstone and kyanite necklaces and two 4mm opal gemstone necklaces. Insert the eye of the needle into the tip of the thread (but not the thread into the eye of the needle) and release the pressure on the thread when it comes together. I hope you pull enough thread through the eyelet to pull it through in one go without undoing any of the layers.
