I bought the king-size cover as our cat entered final stage of kidney failure and lost control. Overall, I had about a dozen urinations. Most of them I discovered quite soon after, a few of them sat a while, one of them for several hours. In each case, my cleanup procedure was: (a) wipe the area, (b) dilute the deposit with water, (c) gently wring the area, (d) generously apply Isopropyl alcohol, (e) gently wring the area once more, (f) let the area air dry (rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly). While my nose might not be the best in the world, the couch seems to have survived and I don't smell any residuals. I can't imagine how stressed I would have been without this couch cover.I would note that one rather large urine deposit did make the underside of the blanket and the couch a bit damp, although, the urine was sitting on the cover for several hours. Regardless, that part of the couch doesn't seem to smell, and, a day later the cat hit the same spot (with rapid clean-up) and it didn't soak though the second time. Water is a very very small molecule, so, in this case, perhaps it permeated though the cover. gradually. I'm not sure what could prevent that except a much thicker (and less flexible) plastic.One other note -- the "recliner" cover isn't big enough to cover a even a medium sized recliner. I may have to return it due to size.
