Read a lot of reviews for different belt sanders before choosing this one. I am replacing my older Craftsman that you can’t get parts for anymore. The motor was still good but had other issues. This one was more expensive than others and had pros and cons for reviews like they all do. The deciding factor for me was the low profile compared to others. The only thing I didn’t like was that the on-off switch was (for me) on the backside (wrong side). What I did (I know, it voids the warranty) was I partially removed the cover, it wasn’t easy but I was determined, and I moved the switch to the opposite side. It was a tight fit.but it fit. This unit works very well. It’s well made and pretty darn quiet for a belt sander. I don’t have any problems with belt tracking and I’ve used it quite a bit. I also find it has plenty of power and it hasn’t bogged down yet with the amount of pressure needed to take off a good amount of wood in the process of sanding. It’s 5 stars for me and it’s not my first sander.
