This mSATA adapter enabled a drive to be backed up from a computer that failed. It took 3 hours for an 8GB hard drive, but I wasn't checking for bottlenecks and it might just be the hard drive itself. I might even add it as a hard drive in Hyper-V. Performance in Hyper-V was poor, but I didn't try to optimize it. The chip got a bit warm (not too hot to hold a touch, but hot enough to be uncomfortable) so I wasn't expecting that to happen. survived many long I/O operations, at least without a heatsink attached.
