These little universal springs are made of stainless steel, have many "springs" which are compression springs and have hundreds of uses around the home and garage. I used mine to create friction on the UDS smoker air intake flap by putting it on a pivot bolt with washers. Works like a champ and allows me to make the tiniest adjustments to airflow without worrying about the settings slipping. The items were very reasonably priced, arrived on time and were exactly what I was looking for. Very happy with this purchase! Take care Mike
