I have an ESD mat conductivity tester, it tests the right conductivity to be an ESD dissipative mat. I installed a soldering iron tip on it and held it there for 10 seconds, no damage. Light blue silicone mats do NOT dissipate ESD or protect against static electricity. Do NOT confuse them with the silicone-free blue ESD-Static Mats, which protect against static electricity but will melt if the tip of your soldering iron touches them. I highly recommend purchasing a mat grounding kit that comes with a snap and screw connection. .
